The Brilliant Edit

Top Two Jewelry Trends of 2020

Although fashion trends come and go, here for one season and gone the next, jewelry has remained a constant. Jewelry was historically used for centuries to represent wealth and social status. Now, it’s a staple behind any outfit and is used to elevate fashion. While clothes have changed drastically over the last few decades, jewelry trends are slower and more reluctant to follow. For many years, we have adopted the idea that less is more, sticking to plain bands and amulets. Well, I am here to tell you that the newest trend proves that more is indeed more!

Stacking and Layering

What we have begun seeing a lot more, both on the runways and social media, is stackable and layered jewelry. That includes stackable rings, bracelets, and layered necklaces. By adding layers and stacking multiple pieces together, you can create an entirely different look than with the pieces worn alone. You can take your outfit to the next level by mixing and matching different styles and metals. Some of our favorite examples of layering rings includes incorporating eternity bands in the three different metal tones such as silver, gold and rose gold. You can include ones that are thinner and wider, creating more dimension. Another example of mixing and matching metals and stacking bracelets would be with bracelets and bangles. You can opt-in for a simple gold bracelet, and stack it in between two silver ones with diamonds. This creates a unique piece that can match any color palette.

The New Age of Engagement Rings

To all the future brides out there, if the idea of a traditional square diamond engagement ring no longer appeals to you, you are not alone. In today’s age, more brides are opting for a more unique look to their engagement band. The new trend we are currently seeing is in the shape that is becoming more popular, the size of the ring, and even the gem that is being used. Goodbye square and hello pear! If you are not familiar with the pear-shaped engagement ring, you are in for a treat. Shaped like an upside-down teardrop, the pear cut looks good on just about any finger, it beautifully elongates the hand and looks royal. You can add to the drama by opting in for a halo surrounding the center stone. Another great way of spicing up the traditional engagement ring is by choosing a stone other than a diamond. Not only is it more sustainable to the environment, but it also creates a personalized unique look. Consider opting in for your birthstone or a stone that resonates with you.

While jewelry remained largely unchanged throughout history, in recent years we have noticed a shift in the jewelry niche. People are opting in for bold looks, mixing and matching styles to best suit theirs. They are questioning what has been considered taboo and creating spectacular pieces that ought to catch anyone’s attention. Even with the hottest trends, the best way to style your jewelry is to style it to your own liking!
