Lindsey Pluimer’s background is a story of transformation and dedication. She started as a professional basketball player, representing UCLA on the court. However, her journey took an unexpected turn when she delved into the issue of media coverage during the Darfur genocide. This exposure to international development ignited a passion for creating positive change in the world.
After playing basketball overseas professionally, Lindsey’s path led her to South Africa, where she collaborated with another organization providing healthcare. This experience opened her eyes to the critical connection between health, clean water, and quality food. Driven by a desire to make a tangible difference, Lindsey retired from basketball at the age of 24 and founded With My Own Two Hands.

Lindsey Pluimer draws her inspiration from the profound impact she witnesses within communities partnered with With My Own Two Hands. The organization’s clean water and sustainable agriculture programs bring about remarkable changes. Children are able to attend school without falling ill from waterborne diseases, women have more time to focus on personal and professional growth, and communities experience economic empowerment.
