Let me guess, you’ve been up all night flipping through bridal magazines looking for the perfect dresses for your bridesmaids.
You obviously want your bridesmaids to look beautiful, but no way are you going to be one of those bridezillas who dresses their party up in burlap sacks just so they don’t steal the show. Also, it is your day and no one wants their girls showing them up, now do they?!
With all that research under your belt, you finally have a bridesmaid dress style narrowed down and then… Bam! It hits you. What about jewelry?!
Take a deep breath and please put the paper bag away. Our in-house style mavens have you covered with a few of our favorite strategies for choosing your incredible wedding party’s jewelry.
Strategy #1 – Stick to a budget.
Good-quality jewelry can be expensive for any occasion. However, the sheer cost alone can make your wallet cry when you consider all the other expenses that come along with being in the wedding party squad. Between dresses (or tuxes!), hair and makeup stylists, gifts and bachelorette/bachelor parties, weddings really know how to blow a budget.
This is why it’s important to know the jewelry budget and be tenacious to stick to it! Even if you decide to cover the cost of your party’s jewelry, a realistic and thoughtful budget will still be a necessity. Remember, you already have an ever growing list of expenses for the day of your dreams – no need to add more stress!
Even if your gals plan to cover the cost themselves, ask them about their budgets. You don’t want one of your favorite people backing out of being on your squad due to cost. One good way to do this is to send out an email or text ahead of time to find out just what they’re planning to spend in celebration of you. Then encourage a budget behind the scenes (and prior to all those unruly get-togethers) that will work for everyone. Easy peasy.

Strategy #2 – Consider your people’s personalities!
You endlessly adore everyone in your wedding party! Why else would you single them out to be front and center alongside you on your big day? If you’ve been blessed enough to round up an incredible group of sparkling personalities and, equally importantly, personal styles, take each of them into thoughtful consideration.
Sure, this is your day. But who wants to be dressed up in something they either don’t look good in or simply dislike? You do like your friends, after all.
When it comes time to make the final selections, take a pause and remember what makes each of your squad amazing. What’s unique about each one’s style? Get that text thread going and get some input from those cool ladies. After all, we do not want anyone faking a smile for party photos.

Strategy #3 – Matching or coordinating?
The final thing to consider when picking out gems for the wedding squad is if you want everyone to match…at all.
In the moment when you feel THE dress around you and you look out at the smiling faces of everyone there to celebrate this monumental moment, how does your party look? Obviously, they’re gorgeous and perfect and almost as beautiful as you.
But do they match? The dresses, the jewelry, the shoes, the hair? If the easy answer is no, then go your own path and encourage them to accessorize themselves. Remember, there is no perfect way to do a day that is centered around that crazy thing called love.
